Prom: Yes or No?
I have mixed feelings about Prom. I find the whole concept to be a socially constructed, rite of passage in which you spend a ton of money on a dress and dance (aka grind) to loud music in a hotel. Extras include: spiked punch, accidental pregnancies, drug usage, etc. Why would I be interested in that? I don't like to dance, I don't like to wear dresses or heels, why on earth would I go to prom? And yet, all my friends are going. They are so excited about finding their dresses and being asked that a small part of me yearns to conform to this idea of prom so that I can enjoy this experience alongside my friends. Stupid, right? I would be a total hypocrite if I spent my entire high school career condemning prom, only to go my senior year. I don't have a date (nor do I want a date, thank you!) I don't have a dress (and I hate shopping for dresses, it is always so depressing) and I still don't know how / don't like to dance (although I did recently learn the cotton-eye joe dance). I'm trying to save money for college so the idea of blowing over $100 on a dance doesn't excite me, and once again, I don't like the idea of prom. So why do I want to go? Maybe I just don't want to be left out. Or maybe the human nature is to conform to society's rites of passage. Or maybe I am just a hypocrite. Who knows.. The point is, I am still not sure if prom is right for me or not, and I am running out of time to decide. If anyone happens to read this and has any comments to add or advice to give, that would be lovely! :)

Why I Started Blogging
Many of you may be wondering why I started a blog in the first place. For starters, I have a serious Pinterest addiction. (for those of you who don't know what Pinterest is, it is a magical website full of everything you could ever want to buy / know how to do!) Pinterest is full of bloggers; mommy bloggers, fitness bloggers, food bloggers, fashion bloggers, etc. Like for real, there is an abundance of blogs all telling you how to work out, how to cook the best food, how to look fantastic in 5 minutes, how to totally revamp your wardrobe with only a sewing machine and Goodwill coupons, how to clean your house more efficiently, how to make "all natural" products, you name it, there is probably a blog about it. Now, you have to understand, I am not condemning these blogs. In fact, I read most of them daily. But they got me thinking. Here I am, a senior in high school, sitting around reading mommy blogs all day. Why? Why not read a blog about someone my own age? Or better yet, write a blog for other people to read; something people can relate to? So I made one. Taadaa! Now you can read a blog about the average high school student. (okay not average..I realize that I am way weirder than the average high schooler) Perhaps you can relate to it. Maybe a mom trying to reconnect with her daughter can read my blog and gain a better understanding of what her kid is going through. Maybe someone will read this blog and realize that they are not alone in their struggles. Or maybe, people will read it and laugh. (at least it made them happy, even if at my expense!) So I encourage you to laugh away at my awkward life. Share this blog with those close to you and together the world will become a more understanding and magical place :) (like I said, sarcasm is my specialty) Anyway, I think the main I started a blog is because writing helps me organize my head and form coherent thoughts. Because I am so awkward in person, writing allows me to express myself better. I've never been able to keep a journal but blogging is different somehow. I guess because it feels like giving advice or sharing my life story with a friend, instead of whining in a book no one will ever read. Hey, maybe no one will ever read my blog, but at least it is out there. Someone could find it and it could help them. So that is why I am beginning the great adventure of blogging! Until next time internet...
P.S. Sorry for the sub-par blog name, all the good ones were taken :)

Greetings from my little corner of the Internet!
Greetings from my little corner of the internet! To start off I thought I would introduce myself and tell you a little about me. My name is Hannah, I currently live in a small town in Pennsylvania with my family. I have 2 brothers and a sister- all younger than me, and a pet cat that I have had since 2nd grade. I am 17 - turning 18 in May! :) I work 2 jobs, I take college classes at the local university, and want to travel the world more than anything; which is why I am going to college to study Elementary Education and will eventually teach English overseas. I am very actively involved in my church and strive everyday to show God's love to everyone. The only problem is, I am extremely sarcastic - which you will find from reading my blog. I also have very little tolerance for immaturity/stupidity (something in abundance at my high school). This constant struggle between my convictions and short temper result in an entertaining life. If you know me, you know that I am extremely awkward. I am an introvert through and through - face to face interactions stress me out. Cue blog. My hope is that through the anonymity of the internet I can coherently interact with people and share my struggles, viewpoints, and faith with anyone who reads this blog (so like, my mom and 3 other people). I guess that is all for now, until next time internet!
